Central's Berry, wins conference honors

PELLA-Central College junior forward Cody Stoermer (Coralville, Iowa City West HS) has been named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week.

Meanwhile freshman Angie Berry (Indianola/Norwalk HS) was tabbed as the league's women's cross country runner of the week.

Stoermer has led the Central men's soccer team to a 2-1 record. He recorded three goals and an assist in a 2-1 loss Friday to Hamline (Minn.) and 3-1 victory Saturday at Grinnell. Stoermer started his next week off strong as well, scoring his fourth goal of the year Monday in a 3-0 victory over Ashford.

Berry came up a winner in her first collegiate race, capturing the individual title at the Central Dutch Invitational Saturday. She covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:32 and led the Dutch to first-place in the nine-team meet.
