Central's Wolf wins league honor

PELLA - Central College junior quarterback Tim Connell (Eldora, Eldora-New Providence HS) has been named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week and Adam Wolf (senior, Corning) is the league's men's cross country runner of the week.

Connell directed the Dutch football squad to a 24-13 comeback victory over Hope College ( Mich. ) at Pella Saturday, rallying his club from an early 13-0 deficit. Connell was the game's leading rusher and passer, running for a career-best 89 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown without suffering a sack. He completed 26 of 36 passes for 240 yards and a score, establishing career highs in pass completions, attempts and passing yards. His 26 pass completions also set a school record, topping the mark of 25 set by Mark Isaacson against Coe, Oct. 18, 2004.

Wolf placed second in a 112-runner field at the Les Duke Invitational near Grinnell Saturday, covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:05. Wolf, who also placed second at the Central Dutch Invitational Sept. 2, led Central to a fourth-place finish in Saturday's 10-team meet.

It was the first weekly league award for both Central athletes.
