Dutch wrestlers 13th at Simpson Invitational

INDIANOLA— Nathan Stueve (senior, Martensdale, Martensdale-St. Mary's HS) won three matches at 285 pounds at the highly competitive Simpson Invitational Saturday.

The Dutch wrestlers finished 13th of 16 teams with 12.5 points. Wartburg took the team trophy with 152 points.

“Nathan (Stueve) wrestled well today,” said coach Eric Reed. “He made smart decisions and really put it together. It was a really tough tournament. The defending NAIA and NCAA Div. III team champions (Dana (Neb.) and Warburg) both brought their full squads.”

Stueve posted a 3-2 mark while Central also got victories from Andy Ohnemus (senior, Indianola, Southeast Warren HS) at 141 pounds, Adam Foreman (sophomore, Fairfield) at 174 pounds, and Max Davis (freshman, Des Moines, Roosevelt HS) at 197 pounds.

“Adam (Foreman) wrestled great,” said Reed. “He was much more aggressive and physical today than his last few matches. Max (Davis) lost a good match in overtime and really had his guy worn out.”

Central travels to Rock Island, Ill. Thursday to face Augustana (Ill.) and North Central (Ill.) at 6 p.m. North Central (Ill.) is currently ranked eighth in the NWCA poll.
