Another league honor for Central’s Coleman

Women's track | Feb. 11, 2013

PELLA—Central College senior all-American Felicia Coleman (Houston, Texas, J. Frank Dobie HS) has been cited as the Iowa Conference female athlete of the week.

Coleman was again selected as the women’s track events performer of the week for indoor track and field, the same distinction she received last week. It’s the third time Coleman has been given recognition as track events performer of the week and her first as female athlete.

Coleman was tabbed the women’s Most Valuable Performer after a pair of victories Saturday at the Grinnell College Darren Young Classic. She won the 60-meter dash in a meet-record time of 7.81 seconds before anchoring the 4x400-meter relay in a come-from-behind victory in 4:01.38. The season-best relay mark ranks 21st in Division III. It’s the second straight year Coleman has been named MVP.

The Dutch are back on the track Friday at the Iowa Invitational at Iowa City. Field events are set to begin at 4 p.m. with running events starting at 4:35 p.m.
