CEDAR RAPIDS — The Central College women’s tennis team wrapped up their fall season Saturday with Anna Bowser (freshman, Fort Dodge) competing in the final round of flight B of the Iowa Conference individual tournament.

After winning three matches on Friday, Bowser took on Lindsey Nash of Simpson College in the semifinals, coming out on top 6-2, 7-5. In the finals, Bowser led most of the match against Coe College’s Elizabeth Hoffmann. Bowser served for the match at 7-6, but stumbled and lost 9-7.

“Anna played really consistently throughout the tourney,” said coach Steve Tyler. “She came up to the net and had great volleys. She played under pressure and represented her team and herself well.”

The tourney wrapped up the fall season. The Dutch will graduate just one senior, team captain Chelsea Johnson (senior, Mount Vernon). Johnson has a19-11 singles career record.

The Dutch (8-4 overall, 3-4 conference) finished fifth in the conference dual meet standings. The league team tournament will be contested in the spring.

“I am already looking forward to spring season,” said Tyler.
