Nov. 6, 2009Three receive league honors
PELLA—Three Central College volleyball players received Iowa Conference recognition Friday.
Outside hitter Michelle Ripperger (senior, Urbandale) was named a first-team all-conference selection for the second time while libero Chelsea Grieger (sophomore, Pella) was a second-team selection. Middle hitter Lindsay Jennings (senior, Atkins, Benton HS) received honorable mention for the second year in a row.
Ripperger finished the regular season with a team-high 3.04 kills, hitting .206 with 1.06 digs and 0.30 blocks.
Grieger averaged 5.89 digs with 672 overall.
Jennings averaged 2.45 kills with a .252 attack percentage, 0.47 digs and 0.78 blocks.
Cornell College senior middle hitter Laura Dudgeon was named the conference MVP while Luther College’s Jane Gibbs was chosen as coach of the year.
Central took a 22-11 record into Friday’s opening round of the Iowa Conference tournament at Indianola.
