Oct. 27, 2009Central's McKenzie wins league honor
PELLA—Central College forward Brett McKenzie (junior, Lindenhurst, Ill., Antioch HS) has been named the Iowa Conference men’s soccer player of the week.
McKenzie tied a school single-game record with four goals in a 4-2 Iowa Conference victory over Coe College Saturday in Pella. He scored all four goals in the game’s first 52 minutes.
McKenzie is Central’s leading scorer with 10 goals and two assists for the season.
Central took a 6-7 record into Tuesday’s home-season finale with Augustana College (Ill.). The Dutch close the conference schedule Saturday at Storm Lake against Buena Vista, needing a win to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the six-team league tournament.
