Central stumbles at Loras

Lindsay JenningsDUBUQUE—After an encouraging showing in its most recent outing, the Central College volleyball team left Dubuque disappointed Tuesday night, dropping an Iowa Conference match to Loras College 25-22, 25-17, 26-24.

Middle hitter Lindsay Jennings (senior, Atkins, Benton HS) had 10 kills and hit .333 for the night while outside hitter Michelle Ripperger (junior, Urbandale) had eight kills. Setter Maggie Snyder (sophomore, Alexandria, Minn., Rosemount, Minn.) had 30 assists while libero Chelsea Grieger (sophomore, Pella) had 20 digs for the Dutch (18-9 overall, 2-4 conference).

Loras improved to 4-2 in league play with a 9-17 overall mark.

Central must rebound quickly for one of its most challenging weekends of the season, competing in the Wis.-Whitewater Invitational. The Dutch meet Carroll (Wis.) Friday at 3 p.m. before tackling No. 1-ranked Wis.-Oshkosh at 5 p.m. Saturday Central faces No. 8 Wis.-Whitewater at 10 a.m. and St. Norbert (Wis.) at noon.
