Oct. 17, 2009Dutch duo fourth at league tourney
CEDAR RAPIDS—Central College’s Faith Bliss (senior, Ottumwa) and Kayla Donner (sophomore, Metamora, Ill., Metamora Township HS) finished fourth in Flight A doubles at the Iowa Conference women’s tennis tourney Saturday.
The team received all-conference distinction after reaching the semifinals Friday. Bliss and Donner took on Luther College’s Kelsie Allen and Brynne Zinnecker in the third-place match Saturday morning. Allen and Zinnecker, the No. 2 seed, were 8-5 winners.
Donner and Bliss closed with an 11-6 season mark as the Dutch wrapped up the fall campaign under first-year coach Steve Tyler. Central was 9-7 in dual meet and finished fifth in the conference team tourney Oct. 9-10.
