Oct. 14, 2009Dubuque shuts out Dutch, 4-0
PELLA—A couple of early second-half goals let the Univ. of Dubuque break away for a 4-0 Iowa Conference win over the Central College women’s soccer team Wednesday.
Dubuque (10-4 overall, 3-1 conference) went ahead in the 28th minute and carried a 1-0 lead into the second half. But the Spartans picked up two more scores in the first 10 minutes of the second half and finished the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.
Central (1-13 overall, 0-4 conference) was outshot 25-7. Goalkeepers Shelby Austin (freshman, Wichita, Kan., Goddard HS) and Abby Norman (sophomore, Geneseo, Ill.) combined for 12 saves.
Central travels to Mount Vernon for a league women’s/men’s doubleheader Saturday with the women kicking off at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m.
