Oct. 13, 2009Central’s Grieger receives league honor
PELLA—Central College sophomore Chelsea Grieger (Pella) has been named the Iowa Conference volleyball defensive player of the week.
Grieger, a 5-foot-5 libero/defensive specialist, had 118 digs in five matches last week and helped the Dutch post a 3-1 record on a weekend trip to St. Louis. She had 30 digs in Central’s four-set victory at Webster Univ. (Mo.) Saturday afternoon.
Grieger leads Central with 518 season digs, an average of 5.81 per set. The Dutch are 17-8 and play host to Luther College in an Iowa Conference match at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
