Sept. 16, 2009Webster shuts out Central, 6-0
ST. LOUIS, MO.—Webster Univ. (Mo.) forward Christy Capkovic scored three goals as the Gorloks shut out the Central College women’s soccer team 6-0 Wednesday.
Webster (3-1) was up 3-0 at intermission and controlled the match.
“We continue to make strides in the way we’re playing,” coach Colin Kuchy said. “We’re still working towards piecing together a full 90 minutes.”
Kuchy said the Dutch (0-6) got off to a slow start after a late arrival in St. Louis.
“Physically we were a little tired,” he said. “And it was a warm day down here and that added to our fatigue.”
The Dutch are kicking off a seven-game road swing, next traveling to Monmouth College (Ill.) for a 1 p.m. game Saturday. Central holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series but lost to the Scots at Pella last year 4-0. Monmouth is 1-4 after suffering a 2-0 loss to the Univ. of Dubuque Tuesday.
