Central's Snead wins league honor

Nate SneadPELLA—Central College quarterback Nate Snead (sophomore, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) has been named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week.

Snead rushed for all three Central touchdowns, including the gamewinner on fourth down with just 1:05 remaining, as the Dutch football squad knocked off No. 7 Wis.-Stevens Point 22-21 Saturday at Pella.

A first-year starter, Snead (6-2, 225) rushed for 90 yards on 23 carries. He completed 7 of 15 passes for 96 yards with one interception. Through two games, he’s Central’s leading rusher, averaging 90.0 yards per game and 5.3 yards per carry.

Central (2-0) jumped from No. 25 to No. 16 in this week’s rankings. The Dutch open Iowa Conference play Saturday at the Univ. of Dubuque.
