Aug. 24, 2009Liming joins tennis staff
PELLA—Central College senior Loren Liming of Ames (Gilbert HS) is joining the Central College men’s and women’s tennis staff as strength and conditioning coach.
Liming, in his second year as a student assistant for head strength and conditioning coach Jake Anderson, recently completed a summer internship with the strength and conditioning program for the Iowa State Univ. football squad.
An exercise science/strength and conditioning major, Liming is also a varsity letterwinner for the Dutch men’s basketball team.
Liming will guide the Central tennis squads through in-season and off-season workouts.
“I believe the appointment of Loren will add greatly to our confidence on the courts,” said first-year men’s and women’s tennis coach Steve Tyler. “Loren brings an understanding of strength, quickness, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Through dynamic stretching, disciplined lifting, footwork and cardio workouts, Loren will be a catalyst in allowing our players to reach the next rung, as well as have fun doing so.
“Loren has demonstrated that he shares our passion for helping the Central tennis program compete with the very best in the nation.”
The Central women’s tennis squad opens the fall campaign Sept. 1 at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.
