April 18, 2009Central sixth at Millikin tourney
DECATUR, ILL.—Despite improving by four shots, the Central College women’s golf team remained in sixth place at the Millikin Univ. (Ill.) Spring Classic Saturday.
Illinois Wesleyan fired 320-315—635 for a 10-shot win. Central shot 346-342-688 at the par-72 Hickory Point Golf Course.
Sarah Paulson (freshman, Ottumwa) slipped into a tie for 13th place at 78-83—161 but the rest of the Dutch squad shaved their scores a bit. Eva Downes (junior, Woodstock, Ill., Marion Catholic Central HS) placed 24th at 86-81—167, Ali Miller (freshman, Davenport, North HS) was at 89-86—175, Abby Lukensmeyer (freshman, Hampton, Hampton-Dumont HS) had 93-92—185 and Allison Crooks (sophomore, Moline, Ill.) was at 96-95—191.
A partial Central JV team completed its 36-hole meet with Simpson at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa Saturday. Lindsey Ellenson (sophomore, Amana, Clear Creek-Amana HS) was Central’s low scorer with 94-98—192.
Central travels to Decorah Friday for the Luther Invitational.
