Central climbs eight spots in polls
PELLA—Central College has vaulted to sixth in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s top 25 Division III softball poll. Unranked in the preseason, Central (21-3) was 14th in last week’s poll. The Dutch even received one of the eight first-place votes. Louisiana College (22-4) took over at No. 1 while last week’s leader, Texas-Tyler (23-3) slipped to No. 5.
Iowa Conference rival Luther College (18-2) climbed from No. 17 to No. 13 and Wartburg College (25-3) jumped 10 spots to No. 15. Washington-St. Louis (Mo.) (15-8), which was tied for No. 4 last week before being swept in a doubleheader at Central Friday, tumbled to No. 25. Defending champion Wis.-Eau Claire (17-4), which split two games with Central in Arizona last month, is at No. 7.
Central travels to Indianola Friday for a 4 p.m. conference doubleheader at Simpson College, then travels to the Univ. of Dubuque for a Saturday twinbill at 2 p.m.
