WAVERLY—Sarah Paulson (freshman, Ottumwa) shot an 82 as the Central College women’s golf team placed seventh in the weather-shortened Wartburg Spring Invitational Saturday.
Paulson placed ninth in the individual standings at the wind-swept par-72 Centennial Oaks Golf Club. Laura Heck of the Univ. of St. Thomas (Minn.) took medalist honors with 76.
The second round of the scheduled 36-hole tourney was called off due to anticipated snow in Iowa Sunday.
Central shot 350 while No. 2-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) topped a powerful nine-team field with 321. No. 11 Wis.-Eau Claire was next at 326 with No. 6 St. Thomas at 329 and No. 9 Wartburg at 335. Central edged Iowa Conference rival Luther College by 2 strokes.
Eva Downes (junior, Woodstock, Ill., Marion Catholic Central HS) had 86 while Abby Lukensmeyer (freshman, Hampton, Hampton-Dumont HS) had 88, Allison Crooks (sophomore, Moline, Ill.) shot 94 and Ali Miller (freshman, Davenport, North HS) had 95.
The Dutch play host to their own Central Invitational April 17-18 in Oskaloosa.
