MOUNT VERNON—The Central College men’s tennis team had its most productive day of the young season, defeating Principia College (Ill.) 6-3 and Cornell College 7-2 at Mount Vernon Saturday.
The Dutch (3-6) got two singles wins from Jacob Dreyer (sophomore, Cedar Falls) at No. 3, Seth Harris (freshman, Waverly, Neb.) at No. 4, Chris Lensing (freshman, Spencer) at No. 5 and Jacob Veldhuizen (sophomore, Wausau, Wis., East HS) at No. 6.
Central trailed Cornell after the doubles matches, 2-1, but swept all six singles matches for the victory.
Central doesn’t return to action until making a spring break trip to Texas. The Dutch men’s and women’s squads will play an exhibition against Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas Sunday, March 15. Central also tackles Howard Payne Univ. at Dallas March 17.
