PELLA—Central College is 21st in the first spring season Golf World/Nike Golf Division III coaches’ men’s golf poll. That’s up a notch from 22nd in the fall season rankings. Huntingdon College (Ala.) remains at No. 1. The Hawks received 15 of 17 first-place votes to stay in front of perennial power Methodist College (N.C.). St. John’s Univ. (Minn.), at No. 5, is the highest-ranked team in the region, followed by No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan Univ., No. 18 Carthage College (Wis.) and Central. No other Iowa Conference schools received votes. There are 285 Division III schools competing in men’s golf.
Central opens the spring campaign March 18 by playing host to the Dutch Desert Shootout at the Sundance Golf Club in Buckeye, Ariz.
