Feb. 2, 2009Central's Carman wins league honor
PELLA—Central College’s Megan Carman, a senior from Newton, has been named the Iowa Conference female athlete of the week.
Carman, a 5-foot-7 guard, delivered a game-winning shot at the buzzer in the Central women’s basketball team’s 76-75 comeback victory over Buena Vista Univ. Saturday. The Dutch had trailed by 10 points with 4 minutes remaining but Carman fueled a rally, scoring Central’s final eight points in the last 1:38 of the game.
She finished with a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting with four rebounds and an assist.
It was the second win of the season over Buena Vista, Central’s first season sweep of the Beavers since 1993-94.
