Nov. 25, 2008Ley named league male athlete of the week
PELLA—Central College junior Miguel Ley (San Antonio, Texas, Judson HS) is the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week. Ley, a 6-0 guard for the Dutch men’s basketball team, scored 59 points in three victories while shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from the free throw line. He averaged 19.7 point, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists as Central defeated Faith Baptist College 84-41 Nov. 15, Graceland Univ. 66-62 Nov. 18 and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) 96-45 last Friday.
Ley was a second-team all-Iowa Conference honoree last year.
Central takes a 3-0 record into Wednesday’s game against Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minn.
