Oct. 30, 2008Central rolls past Cornell
MOUNT VERNON—The Central College volleyball squad secured the No. 3 seed in the Iowa Conference tournament with a 25-23, 26-28, 25-20, 25-23 victory over league foe Cornell Wednesday night.
The Dutch victory dropped Cornell to 16-14 (3-4 conference).
Lindsay Jennings and Michelle Ripperger led the Dutch attack racking up 11 kills apiece. Haley Brillhart added to the offense with 10 kills of her own while hitting a solid .444 for the match.
The Dutch played well at the net recording six blocks, four of which Jennings had a hand in.
Setters Megan Callahan and Maggie Snyder split the responsibility and recorded 23 and 18 assists respectively.
Central (19-14 overall, 5-2 conference) faces Buena Vista University (7-21 overall, 2-5 conference) in their last match of the regular season Tuesday in Storm Lake. The Dutch made quick work of Buena Vista winning in three sets last season.
