Oct. 25, 2008Central falls to league leader Wartburg
WAVERLY—Wartburg College remained in the driver’s seat of the Iowa Conference race with a 5-0 victory over Central College in women’s soccer Saturday. Central failed to produce much offense in the game, getting outshot by Wartburg (14-2-1 overall, 7-0 conference) 25-1. Midfielder Kristi Klatt (sophomore, Cedar Falls) took the Dutch’s only shot.
Despite the lack of offense Central went into the half trailing by only one, but Wartburg came out firing in the second half, scoring its final four goals between the 55th and 60th minute.
Goalkeeper Abby Norman (freshman, Geneseo, Ill.) had 12 saves for Central.
Central (3-14 overall, 2-6 conference) will host William Penn University (5-9-3 overall) Tuesday in the final match of the season. Last year Central defeated William Penn 1-0 in Pella.
