Oct. 11, 2008Central falls 9-1 on the road at Dubuque
DUBUQUE—The Central College women’s soccer team surrendered five first-half goals and fell 9-1 to the University of Dubuque Saturday. The Dutch were accurate offensively with five of eight shots on goal, but only an unassisted first-half shot by defender Sarah Frese (senior, Marshalltown) found the net for her first goal of the year. Goalkeeper Abby Norman (freshman, Geneseo, Ill.) had nine saves.
Dubuque (6-4-3 overall, 2-0-1 Iowa Conference) recorded 18 shots on goal while both Emily Azinger and Chelsea Kittleson scored hat tricks.
Central (2-11 overall, 1-2 conference) travels to Cedar Rapids Wednesday for a men’s/women’s league twinbill at Coe College with the men kicking off at 2 p.m. and the women starting at 4 p.m. The Dutch were 2-1 winners over Coe at Pella last year and lead the all-time series 7-5. The Kohawks took are 4-7 overall and 0-3 in conference after a 3-0 loss Saturday at Wartburg College.
