Oct. 7, 2008Baehr named as league player of the week
PELLA--Central senior Hilary Baehr (Des Moines, Roosevelt HS) has been named the Iowa Conference women's tennis player of the week.
Baehr was honored after posting a 3-0 singles record in a challenging week. Playing at No. 1 singles, Baehr won in straight sets over Grinnell’s Toby Cain, 7-6, 6-2; Luther’s Alana Humpal, 6-4, 6-4; and Wis.-River Falls’ Kathryne Ostrowski, 6-3, 6-0. She also teamed with Stephanie Gibbons (sophomore, Ankeny) to post a 2-1 record at No. 2 doubles.
Baehr and the Dutch open play in the six-team Iowa Conference team tourney Friday in Iowa City.
