Sept. 27, 2008Central falls 7-1 to St. Mary's
PELLA—Four goals in the first 16 minutes proved to be too big a hole for Central College in a 7-1 women’s soccer loss on Saturday to NAIA opponent College of St. Mary (Neb.). St. Mary’s Daniela Padilla and Melissa King each scored three goals in the game. Padilla put the visitors ahead with her first goal of the game in the 5th-minute. In the 9th-minute, Padilla scored again to stake the visitors to a 2-0 lead and King added two goals in the 15th- and 16th-minutes.
Central midfielder Jenna Hindman (junior, Swisher, Cedar Rapids Prairie) scored on a Kristin Davis (sophomore, St. Charles, Ill., East) assist at the 48-minute mark to cut the lead to three before St. Mary’s scored three more in the second half.
The Dutch (1-8 overall, 0-1 conference) will play Nebraska Wesleyan (1-5-1 overall, 1-1-1 GPAC) at 6 p.m. Thursday in Lincoln, Neb.
