Sept. 26, 2008Weekend matches can be seen live over the Web
PELLA—Free live video Webcasts of three Central College volleyball matches will be offered this weekend as part of a new initiative through the college’s Web site. The video can be accessed through the Central athletics Web site at:
http://www.central.edu/athletics/video/
Video is slated to be shown Friday for Central’s 5 p.m. match with St. Olaf College (Minn.) and the 7 p.m. match with No. 6-ranked Carthage College (Wis.), as well as Saturday’s 10 a.m. match with No. 17-rated Hope College (Mich.). The college will not be able to provide video of Central’s 2 p.m. match with Wis.-River Falls.
Video Webcasts made their official debut on the Central site with last Saturday’s Wartburg-Central football game. They are scheduled to be offered for all Central football regular-season home games and most Central volleyball home matches. It is hoped that video can also be offered for home men’s and women’s soccer games this fall, but that is not yet possible for technical reasons. Video coverage will likely be extended into the winter and spring athletics’ seasons but details will be announced later.
College Web manager Jacob Oyen is combining Central’s Live Stats program with the videos, allowing viewers to monitor event scores and statistics simultaneously with the video. The football video Webcasts will also include a live play-by-play broadcast from Trevor Castle through KRLS-FM (92.1) radio.
