Sept. 16, 2008Central rallies past Augustana
ROCK ISLAND, ILL.—Central College scored a pair of late goals to rally past Augustana College for a 2-1 men’s soccer win Tuesday night.
The game was scoreless until the 73rd minute when Augustana’s Scott Wallner tallied an unassisted goal. But 6 minutes later Central midfielder Nick DeLucia (sophomore, Urbana, Ill.) answered with his third goal in the past two games, giving him four for the year. Defender Erik Lundgren (junior, Long Grove, Ill., Adlai Stevenson HS) quickly followed with the game winner off a corner kick, his first goal of the season.
Central (4-3) outshot Augustana 8-2 in the defensive struggle. Dutch goalkeeper Greg Foote (senior, Maple Grove, Minn.) had one save.
Central journeys to Wisconsin Saturday to take on 16th-rated Wis.-Oshkosh in a 1 p.m. contest. The Titans are 5-0 after a 1-0 win over Marian College (Wis.) Tuesday.
