Sept. 15, 2008Central's Wenstrand wins league honor
PELLA—Central College sophomore Nicole Wenstrand (Essex, Essex HS) has been named the Iowa Conference women’s golfer of the week.
Wenstrand was honored after taking medalist honors at the rain-shortened Central Fall Invitational. She endured a day of steady rain to post an 85 at the par-72 Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella, lifting the Dutch to first place in the six-team tourney.
It’s the second straight week that a Central golfer has captured the league award. Freshman Sara Paulson (Ottumwa) was cited Sept. 8 following the Wartburg Invitational at Waverly Sept. 6-7.
Central competes in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Bloomington, Ill.
