Sept. 13, 2008Central rolls past Dubuque, Loras
PELLA—Central College moved above the .500 mark with a pair of lopsided women’s tennis wins Saturday, 7-2 over the University of Dubuque and 9-0 over Loras College.
Against Dubuque coach Bryan Mours rested No. 1 and 2 singles’ players Hilary Baehr (senior, Des Moines, Roosevelt HS) and Faith Bliss (junior, Ottumwa) and No. 4 player Stephanie Gibbons (sophomore, Ankeny). Bliss also sat out in singles against Loras but teamed with Kayla Donner (freshman, Metamora, Ill.) to record a pair of doubles wins.
Central’s Donner and Emily Swartz (freshman, Eldora, South Hardin HS) each recorded two singles wins.
Central travels to Lamoni Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. dual with Graceland. The Dutch were 8-1 winners when the teams met in Pella last year. Graceland took a 1-0 record into its conference tournament in St. Joseph, Mo. over the weekend.
