Sept. 6, 2008St. Catherine scores 7-0 win
WAVERLY—The College of St. Catherine (Minn.) overpowered the Central College women’s soccer team 7-0 Saturday.
Statistics were not yet available.
Central dropped to 1-2 and first-year coach Colin Kuchy said the Dutch don’t have enough veteran players.
“We’re a young team still learning a whole lot,” he said. “St. Catherine is an experienced, well-coached team. We got away from our game plan and our lack of experience showed.”
Despite the lopsided score, Kuchy was happy with the effort shown by goalkeeper Abby Norman (freshman, Geneseo, Ill.).
“Abby played a strong game in goal in her first start there,” he said. “We’re still moving players around to try to find the best position for everybody.”
After three games on the road, Central starts a six-game home stand, taking on Grinnell College Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Grinnell was a 2-0 winner over Central in last year’s season opener.
