Central cracks regional rankings
PELLA—Central College has cracked the NCAA Division III regional women’s cross country rankings, debuting in ninth in the Central Region preseason rankings.
The ratings are produced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Iowa Conference rival Luther College tops the regional rankings with Wartburg College second.
Interim head coach Stephen Fyfe’s squad returns its top seven runners from last year’s team which placed 11th at the NCAA Division III Central Region meet in Northfield, Minn. Central junior Angie Berry (Norwalk) is a two-time NCAA Division III national meet qualifier.
Central opens the 2008 campaign Sept. 6 by playing host to the Central Dutch Invitational on the college’s campus cross country course in the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex.
