June 24, 2008Campbell named new assistant coach
PELLA—Andrew Campbell has been named assistant women’s basketball coach at Central College.
Campbell will assist new Dutch head coach Jerry Nikkel, who was the previous varsity assistant.
For the past two seasons Campbell has served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Iowa and was a part of the staff that guided the Iowa women’s squad to the NCAA tournament this past season.
He has also served as a camp instructor at Iowa, Notre Dame and Duke, and was a junior high boys’ coach in Iowa City. He’s coached youth and club league squads as well.
Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Iowa before earning an MBA degree there in sports administration and organizational performance.
Campbell joins a Central program that has won or shared six Iowa Conference titles and made five NCAA Division III tourney appearances, winning the 1993 national title.
