March 26, 2008Dutch sweep two at Fort Dodge
FORT DODGE—Three Central College players are from Fort Dodge but all of the Dutch men’s tennis squad looked at home on the Dodger Courts Wednesday.
Central swept Dordt College and Buena Vista University by 9-0 scores.
The top three singles players in the Dutch lineup, senior Jared Feddersen, sophomore Luke Boyd and freshman Dan Bowser, are Fort Dodge High School graduates. It’s the second year in a row that the Dutch have competed on the Fort Dodge courts. Central returns to Fort Dodge for a non-conference match with Morningside College April 8.
First-year coach Bryan Mours has run the Dutch through a demanding schedule, but it began paying dividends Wednesday as Central won every match in straight sets. The Dutch improved to 7-8 heading into an off weekend. They’re at Waverly next Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match with Iowa Conference rival Wartburg College. Central defeated the Knights in indoor action at Pella 9-0.
