March 4, 2008Dutch, Berry receive academic honors
PELLA—Central College’s Angie Berry (sophomore, Norwalk) has been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association women’s Division III all-academic team.
To be selected, an athlete must carry at least a 3.5 grade point average and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective NCAA Division III regional meet.
Berry has a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while majoring in history and secondary education. She is spending the spring semester at Central’s international study center in London. Berry was an academic all-Iowa Conference honoree last fall.
After placing sixth in the Central Regional at Northfield, Minn. Nov. 10 and becoming Central’s first runner to qualify for the Division III national meet in her first two years of collegiate competition, Berry took 63rd at the NCAA race.
Berry was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Central Region team.
Team recognized--Coach David Paulsen's women's cross country squad was also named a USTFCCCA all-academic team. Teams recognized must must compile a team score at its respective regional meet and have a minumum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average. The Dutch posted a 3.30 combined team GPA.
