PELLA—Central College men’s basketball point guard Brett DeHoogh (Clive, Valley HS) has been named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
DeHoogh, who was earlier named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week, was cited for scoring a career-high 30 points with five assists, four blocks and six rebounds in a 78-73 win at Simpson College Feb. 7. He helped seal the game by making 5 of 6 free throws in the final 40 seconds.
He was one of five players honored by D3hoops.com.
A 6-foot senior, DeHoogh, who ranks 16th nationally in assists-to-turnover ratio at 2.25, averages 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists a game for the season. He is a three-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree.
Central (13-7 overall, 6-7 conference) plays host to the University of Dubuque Saturday. The women’s-men’s doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium, with the men’s game tipping off at approximately 4 p.m.
