PELLA—Central College forward Keith Pedersen (senior, Jefferson, Jefferson-Scranton HS) is the NCAA Division III field goal percentage leader in men’s basketball statistics through Sunday.
Pedersen, a 6-foot-6 three-year letterwinner, is hitting 73.7 percent of his shots, connecting on 70 of 95 shots from the floor in 12 games. He’s averaging 12.9 points.
Point guard Brett De Hoogh (senior, Clive, Valley HS) is 12th in assist/turnover ratio with 2.95. He’s passed out 56 assists with 19 turnovers.
In team statistics the Dutch are 20th in field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to 38.8 percent shooting. Central is 21st in 3-point goals per game, averaging 9.3.
Central takes an 8-4 record into Wednesday’s Iowa Conference contest with Coe College.
In NCAA Division III women’s basketball statistics, Central is 27th in free throw percentage at 73.5. Dutch freshman center Andrea Clark (Guthrie Center) is 27th individually, hitting 86.9 percent. She’s made 53 of 61 free throws.
The Dutch women are 4-10 overall and 2-3 in the league heading into Wednesday’s game with Coe.
