Buena Vista runs past Central

STORM LAKE—After winning back-to-back Iowa Conference games, the Central College women’s basketball team was handled by Buena Vista 109-72 Saturday.

Buena Vista’s (8-6 overall, 2-3 Iowa Conference) 109 points are one off the record for most allowed, a 110-77 loss to Mount Mercy on Nov. 20, 1993.

It was a career day for a pair of Central (4-9 overall, 2-3 Iowa Conference) freshmen from Guthrie Center High School. Both Center Andrea Clark and guard Jordan Waddell notched collegiate highs in points with 23 and 20 respectively. Clark recorded her second career statistical double-double by adding 10 rebounds to her point total. Waddell’s high-scoring effort was buoyed by 6-of-10 on 3-pointers. Her six 3-pointers was one off the record set by current Dutch assistant Katy Paxton on Feb. 9, 2007.

Central returns home for a Wednesday Iowa Conference contest with Coe College. It’s part of a women’s-men’s doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. Coe (9-4 overall, 2-2 Iowa Conference) is coming off a 67-66 loss at Wartburg Saturday. Central and Coe split a pair of games last season.
