Jan. 4, 2008Hobbs, Ray lead Central in first day of Matman Invitational
MOUNT VERNON—The Central College wrestling team saw a pair of wrestlers make runs in the first day of the Cornell College Matman Invitational Friday.
After losing a close 10-7 decision in his first match, Curtis Hobbs (freshman, Grinnell) at 141 proceeded to win his next three matches and will wrestle tomorrow with the opportunity to place as high as third.
Kyle Ray (freshman, Greenfield, NodawayValley HS) at 157 wasted little time by pinning his first two opponents. However, Ray dropped his next two matches, eliminating him from tomorrow’s competition.
The Dutch wrestlers stand 13th with 11 points in the 13-team competition as Coe leads with 86 points.
