Jan. 3, 2008Central lands three on all-region squad
PELLA—The Central College men’s soccer team landed a program-record three players on the NSCAA all-West Region team.
Central had two players receive all-region honors in both 2005 and 2006.
Senior forward Cody Stoermer (Coralville, Iowa City West HS) was a first-team selection, junior midfielder Cruz Herr (Cedar Rapids, Kennedy HS) made second teamand freshman midfielder Cody Jandik (Cedar Rapids, Cedar Valley Christian HS) collected third-team honors. Stoermer was also named to the D3kicks.com all-West Region second team.
It is the third consecutive year Stoermer has received all-region honors. In 2007 he re-wrote the Central record book for nearly every offensive category as he now is the career leader in points (137), assists (39), shots (304), shots on goal (154), game-winning goals (10) and games started (77) while setting school season marks for goals (19), assists (12), shots (91), shots on goal (52) and points (50).
Herr makes his first appearance on an all-region squad after captaining the Dutch in 2007 to a 14-4-3 record while notching three goals and two assists from the midfield.
Jandik is the first freshman in Central history to receive all-region honors after compiling a freshman record 28 points on 11 goals and six assists.
