ROCK ISLAND, ILL.--The Central College wrestling team notched three individual victories but fell to Augustana College (Ill.) Tuesday 36-10.
Curtis Hobbs (freshman, Grinnell) improved to 3-5 with a 4-3 decision over Zac Holland at 141 pounds. At 157, Kyle Ray (Greenfield, Nodaway Valley HS) upped his mark to 5-3 with a 5-0 shutout of Kris Kovach.
Then Ben Rehm (freshman, Lindenhurst, Ill., Lakes HS) recorded his second collegiate win in four matches, outscoring Augustana’s Patrick Kilroy at 285 pounds. Rehm joined the squad late because of his participation in football.
Central, 0-6, takes a break for fall semester exams, then travels to Las Vegas for the Desert Duals Dec. 18 where the Dutch will likely compete in four dual meets. Also in the field are Apprentice School (Va.), Coe College, Elmhurst College (Ill.), Grand Canyon Univ. (Ariz.), Kings College (Pa.), Loras College, Menlo College (Calif.), Morningside College, North Central College (Ill.), Simpson College, the Univ. of Great Falls (Mont.) and meet host Wartburg College.
Dutch coach Eric Van Kley started the wrestling program at Great Falls and coached there for the past four years.
