Nov. 8, 2007Central places three on all-league squad
PELLA—Central College career scoring leader Tori Rittman (senior, Ankeny) has been named to the all-Iowa Conference first team women’s soccer squad.
Dutch freshman midfielder Kristi Klatt (Cedar Falls) and senior goalkeeper Michelle Gilbert (senior, West Des Moines, Valley HS) were second-team picks while forward Kelli Hancock (sophomore, Cedar Falls) and defender Jessica Steward (sophomore, Cedar Falls) received honorable mention.
Rittman led Central with 12 goals and six assists. She set school career records for points (120), goals (52) and shots (337) and broke the season shots mark (90). Rittman also tied a school record for scoring in the most consecutive games (4).
Klatt had one goal and a team-high eight assists in her rookie season while Gilbert posted a 9-5-3 record and was a part of five shutouts. She allowed 1.13 goals per game and turned away 109 shots.
Hancock was Central’s second-leading scorer with eight goals and five assists. Steward had one assist while playing in the back.
Central posted a 10-5-3 record, earning an Iowa Conference tournament berth and narrowly missed a berth in the finals, dropping a semifinal round shootout after a draw.
