Central women crack rankings
PELLA—A strong showing at the Iowa Conference meet propelled the Central College women’s cross country team into the NCAA Division III regional rankings.
The Dutch are ranked No. 8 in the Central Region, the squad’s first appearance in this year’s ratings which are produced by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Nebraska Wesleyan tops the rankings with Iowa Conference champion Luther second and Wartburg seventh.
Central was third in the league meet at Dubuque Oct. 27 and sophomore Angie Berry (Norwalk) placed second individually to capture all-conference honors. Berry, a returning NCAA Division III meet qualifier, will attempt to secure a second berth in the national meet when the Dutch compete at the NCAA regional championships in Northfield, Minn. Nov. 10. The national meet will also be staged at Northfield Nov. 17.
