Oct. 16, 2007Central’s Stoermer receives national honor
PELLA—Central College forward Cody Stoermer (senior, Coralville, Iowa City West HS) has been named to the D3kicks.com team of the week.
Stoermer shattered the school men’s soccer career points record with a 12-point week. He had his third career hat trick with a three-goal effort in Central’s 6-1 victory at Simpson College last Wednesday, then scored two goals and recorded two assists in a 6-2 win at Buena Vista University Saturday.
Stoermer has 123 career points, eclipsing Nick Furlong’s old mark of 112 (1996-99). Stoermer also has 44 career goals, six shy of Furlong’s school mark.
For the season Stoermer has 14 goals with eight assists for 36 points. He’s helped lead the Dutch to a 10-4-1 overall mark.
Central returns home for a conference match with Coe College Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field.
