Oct. 15, 2007Central seeded third in league tourney
PELLA—Central College is the No. 3 seed for the Iowa Conference women’s tennis tournament Friday and Saturday in Iowa City.
After posting a 9-3 dual record with a 6-2 mark against Iowa Conference opponents, the Dutch will take on the No. 6 seed, Cornell College, which was 7-7 with a 3-4 mark against league schools. The match is slated for 6 p.m. in Iowa City along with the fourth-seeded Wartburg (7-4) taking on fifth-seeded Simpson (7-9).
The Central-Cornell winner meets No. 2 Luther (10-1) at 9 a.m. Saturday while No. 1 seed Coe College (10-0) takes on the Wartburg-Simpson winner. Central tripped the Rams 6-3 Sept. 1 at Mount Vernon but was shut out by Luther 9-0 at Pella Sept. 14.
The fifth-place match is slated for 9 a.m. Saturday at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. The third-place and championship matches are set for noon Saturday in Iowa City.
