Oct. 13, 2007Hindman’s career day lifts Central over Buena Vista
STORM LAKE—A Jenna Hindman (midfielder, sophomore, Swisher, Prairie HS) hat trick and four second-half goals gave the Central College women’s soccer team a key 4-0 Iowa Conference victory over Buena Vista Saturday.
“Jenna had three important goals,” said head coach Rick Burns. “She gave us a wonderful effort and had the best soccer day of her life.”
After a scoreless first half, Central (7-4-2 overall, 1-3-2 Iowa Conference) ended the stalemate 2:45 into the second half on an own goal.
Hindman went to work 17:52 into the second half, notching a goal off an assist from midfielder Steph Ellwanger (junior, Indianola). Hindman used a pass from forward Tori Rittman (senior Ankeny) 1:39 later to notch her second goal of the match. Hindman finished off her career performance when midfielder Kristi Klatt (freshman, Cedar Falls) assisted her with 2:15 remaining in the match.
“I was very pleased today,” said Burns. “We had to battle. I was happy with the play of our back four. They were very solid, won balls and helped us going forward.”
Wednesday the Dutch are home to take on Coe College in another league match. The Kohawks are 3-9-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference mark after a 1-0 loss at the University of Dubuque. Wednesday’s contest is part of a men’s-women’s doubleheader with the women’s game slated for 4 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field.
