Oct. 5, 2007Central sixth after third round
ASBURY—Central College remains in sixth Friday after three rounds of the Iowa Conference women’s golf tourney.
After two rounds at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, the tournament moved to The Meadows, a par-72 layout in Asbury, near Dubuque.
The change in venue and stiff winds sent scores skyward, but Wartburg College remains in first place at 318-318-351—987, 10 shots in front of Loras College. Central is at 360-366-378—1104, 40 shots back of fifth-place Coe College.
Eva Downes (sophomore, Woodstock, Ill., Marian Central Catholic HS) is tied for 18th at 85-84-95—264. Nicole Wenstrand (freshman, Essex) turned in Central’s best round of the day and is in 21st place at 89-87-91—267 with Jordan Williams (junior, Pella) in 26th at 88-94-93—275. Lindsey Ellenson (freshman, Amana, Clear Creek-Amana HS), coming off an injury, made her tournament debut with 99.
The 72-hole tourney concludes with 18 holes at The Meadows Saturday, completing Central’s fall season.
