PELLA—The Central College men’s tennis team opened its campaign with a decisive 8-1 victory over Simpson on Wednesday.
The Dutch swept the Storm in doubles as the teams of: Lucas Boyd (sophomore, Fort Dodge) and Justin Scherff (senior, Denison, Denison-Schleswig), Dan Bowser (freshman Fort Dodge) and Nick Rohner (senior, Wichita, Kan.), Nick Shnicker (freshman, Burlington) and Jacob Veldhuizen (freshman, Wausau, Wis.) won 8-3, 8-3, 8-4 respectively.
In singles, Boyd was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 1. Bowser won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-1. Rohner was a No. 3 victor at 6-3, 6-2. Schreff won at No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-2 score, and Jacob Dreyer (freshman, Cedar Falls) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 6.
