Luther tops Wis.-River Falls, 1-0
PELLA, IOWA—Luther College only needed one run to claim victory in a pitcher’s dual as the Norse topped Wis.-River Falls 1-0 in the NCAA Division III Pella, Iowa Regional Softball Tournament Saturday evening.

Luther (39-6) remains undefeated in the regional and plays the winner of Coe (36-12) and Wis.-River Falls (32-14) Sunday at 2 p.m.

Both pitchers gave up just three hits but Luther took advantage of a leadoff walk in the first inning. The Norse advanced the base runner on a sacrifice bunt and third baseman Lauran Snyder drove in the game-winning run with a shot to left field.

Luther’s Rebecca Girvan improved to 28-4, pitching the complete-game shutout, her ninth of the season. She had four strikeouts and three walks against 22 batters.

Rose Tusa (25-7) took the loss for the Falcons. She pitched six innings and allowed one earned run while striking out two and walking three.

The Wis.-River Falls-Coe matchup begins Sunday at noon.
