Luther’s Girvan silences St. Thomas, 2-0
PELLA, IOWA—Luther College sophomore Becca Girvan fanned 14 batters as the top-seeded Norse eliminated third-seeded St. Thomas (Minn.) 3-0 in the NCAA Division III Pella, Iowa Regional Softball Tournament Saturday.

Girvan limited the Tommies to just three hits in winning her second game of the tourney. She’s allowed one run in 14 innings.

Luther catcher Kelsey Kittleson drove in both Norse runs. She had an RBI single in the first inning, then blasted her 10th home run in the sixth off the left-field scoreboard.

Luther had six hits off St. Thomas hurler Kendra Bowe (22-3), who was helped by two Tommies’ double plays. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion St. Thomas closes the year at 37-9.

Luther advances to meet the winner of Saturday’s Wis.-River Falls game with Coe College.
